Welcome Sabura Rashad!

Montgomery Preparatory Academy is delighted to welcome Sabura Rashad as its new
principal. Principal Rashad brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to fostering
a dynamic and supportive learning environment.

Principal Rashad’s educational foundation is built upon a strong background in the sciences. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Biological Science and Research from the University of Toledo. Demonstrating her dedication to educational excellence, she is a proud Noyce Scholar and a graduate of the UT3 program for multicultural education. Continuing her own journey of lifelong learning, Principal Rashad is currently completing her Master of Arts in Education in Educational Leadership and plans to pursue a doctorate.

With 28 years dedicated to the field of education, Principal Rashad has served in various roles, providing her with a comprehensive understanding of the K-12 landscape. Her classroom experience spans all grade levels, primarily focusing on STEM education. Her leadership skills have been honed through her service as a department chair for middle school, high school, and science departments. In 2015, Principal Rashad transitioned to full-time administration, first as a Dean of Students and most recently as a Director of Academics.

Inspired by a family legacy of educators, Principal Rashad’s passion lies in cultivating a love of learning in others. Her vision for Montgomery Preparatory Academy is to develop students holistically, preparing them for college and career success by focusing on academic achievement, emotional awareness, and strong community building. She is committed to supporting and developing a student centered learning environment characterized by high standards, innovation, a growth mindset, authentic experiences, creativity, and accountability.

Principal Rashad cherishes spending time with her friends and family outside of her professional endeavors, including her four children and five grandchildren. Her personal interests include reading, traveling, watching movies, and camping.

Originally hailing from Detroit, Principal Rashad proudly embraces her Michigan roots. Go Blue! The Montgomery Preparatory Academy community eagerly anticipates the leadership and passion Principal Rashad will bring to the school.
